The 750 Pound Man

Show Description

Meet John Keitz. He has not left his bed in seven years because his legs simply cannot handle the weight of his massive body. He lives his life lying down on his side, and cannot even lie on his back since his rolls of flesh could potentially suffocate him.

Recently, John, his wife Gina, and his sister Jesse, got evicted from their home in Baltimore, Maryland. The eviction is a wake-up call, and John heads off to Andover Village Retirement Community in Ohio to begin a weight loss program. With very little means, his wife and sister’s only option is to stay back in Baltimore with family. The separation is devastating to the family.

John tells us that he is willing to do anything to lose weight, get back on his feet and support his family again. His physician, Dr. Michael Namey, tells us that John is suffering from many complex medical conditions including asthma, heart disease and diabetes. If he does not lose weight, Dr. Namey says, he will be dead within a year.

In this emotional one-hour documentary, we learn how obesity has defined the lives, for good or for ill of three unforgettable characters.
